Thunderkick’s Turning Totems is a 3D slot that is based on the culture of the Ancient Incas and features totem poles, popular with the North American indigenous people, as the reels. It is a three row, 11 pay lines game with striking, colourful imagery in a modern, almost cartoon-like style. At the side of the totem is a young, Native American boy who is dancing around, trying to call the rain.
The masks on the totems are the game symbols and these each spin independently. The masks come in red, green, pink, yellow and blue and the sleeping totem is the Wild symbol, which is a wooden/brown colour. The sleeping totem is worth the least while asleep, but when awoken by the Thunder Snake, it becomes the highest paying, and if you land five of them across the pay lines, your stake will be returned 25 times!
If you are lucky enough to find the Thunder Snake bonus symbol, the reel it is on will become a Thunder Reel, which will wake up your sleeping wilds and you will receive one free spin! If you happen to create three or more Thunder Reels at the same time, you are given five free spins, and your Thunder Reels remain active during this round too. The animation for the Thunder Snake is very dramatic and exciting – in fact, all of the 3d animations are a lot of fun, as are the complimentary sound effects throughout the game. It is worth making the most out of a casino promotion and spend big with your free money, until you get to this bonus round!
You can stake independently on each of the fixed pay lines, and this can be any amount from $0.10 to $100 per line. If you are fortunate enough to find five of the Wild symbols on a Thunder Reel, you can win a maximum of $2,500 with the maximum stake, so you do have the chance for a pretty big win!
Aside from the excellent game play, the visual and audible aspects of Turning Totems is fantastic and really adds to the enjoyment. The game is very simple, and there are not really a lot of bonuses and extra symbols to keep track of, and so if you like easy to follow games, you will love Turning Totems. That is not to say it is uneventful, of course, as the Thunder Reels do appear fairly regularly, and so you do have the chance to win often. Overall, a loveable, charming game.
